Envision Eye Hospital

Cataract Suite

Starting from the most basic cataract surgery, our centre is equipped to manage even the most complicated of all cataract surgeries such the ones with a swollen lens and shallow chamber, hard brown cataract, dislocated cataract, retained lens matter in vitreous cavity and cataract with zonular and posterior capsular tear.

Our Centre aims towards providing extremely precise outcomes following cataract surgery. Premium intraocular lenses such as Monofocal toric lenses, Multifocal lenses and Trifocal lenses aim towards achieving zero glass power after cataract surgery for distance, intermediate and near vision. Our advanced optical biometry suite, toric power calculators and aberrometry modules help in achieving the same. Despite all best efforts, the residual power that does remain after a cataract surgery, especially the cylindrical power, can be completely eliminated by pseudophakic LASIK.

Every patient undergoes elaborate testing prior to cataract surgery, a notable test being the specular microscopy available at only select centres in the city, wherein corneal endothelial counts can be monitored. This, in turn, goes a long way in achieving better corneal clarity after cataract surgery and avoiding post-surgery haze.

Microphaco (sub 2 mm), Cool phaco, Micropulse phaco are some newer phaco designs that help achieve better corneal clarity and curvature characteristics after cataract surgery.

Most cataract surgeries take 10 minutes with advanced equipment, require no injectable anesthesia and no eye patching after surgery. All surgeries can be viewed live at our surgery viewing gallery.

Which lens is best for me?

A lens which has the following features:
Hydrophobic, UV filter, Square edge, Apsheric, and Preloaded

How does a Hydrophobic, Square edge lens help?

Hydrophobic Square edge lenses have low incidence for development of membrane behind the lens (After Cataract) as compared with conventional Hydrophilic lenses.

How does an Aspheric lens help?

Aspheric lenses correct aberrations and hence give the best image quality by enhancing contrast sensitivity and night vision.

How does UV filter help?

It filters out and protects the eye from harmful UV rays from the atmosphere.

How does a Toric lens help?

If you have a cylinderical number, you may need a toric lens to correct it.

How does a Preloaded lens help?

If you have a cylinderical number, you may need a toric lens to correct it.

How does a Multifocal lens help?

It helps you get rid of glasses for distance as well as near. You will be able to do majority of your work without glasses.

How does a Trifocal lens help?

It helps you get rid of glasses for distance , near as well as intermediate. If your work demands crisp vision for intermediate use (eg computer use), Trifocal lenses are best for you.
